Total Recall alludes to Basic Instinct?

Sharon Stone's character playfully says, "If you don't trust me, you can tie me up". Are the writers of Total Recall alluding to Basic Instinct here? I suspect they are because two years later, Sharon Stone, will famously tie up people in her role as, Catherine, in Basic Instinct.
